A DDoS attack is a flood of connections or traffic sent to saturate a server and make a site unreachable. On a showcase site or an online shop the effect is immediate: nobody can order any more, and every minute of downtime has a cost.

It is included with every web hosting plan and every CloudPod, at no extra cost and with no option to switch on. There is no plan with it and plan without it.
No. Protection is active as soon as your hosting is created, upstream of your files. You have no rules to write and no settings to maintain.
Filtering happens on incoming traffic, upstream of your hosting. Under normal conditions your visitors notice no difference.
Malicious traffic is dropped before it reaches your hosting while legitimate traffic keeps flowing. In the vast majority of cases you never notice a thing.
No serious host can promise that, and we will not. Our protection covers the attacks we deal with daily and evolves with them; if something unusual happens, our team steps in and adjusts the filtering.
Most of the time, no: an application error, a heavy plugin or a quota reached explain most slowdowns. Open a ticket with the address concerned and we will check both the network and the hosting side.
